This weeks featured teacher is Gladys Salinas.  She has been teaching for two years.  She attended Wayland Baptist University. Gladys has three kids, Jasmine, Vicente and Clariss. What she does for fun is spend time with her kids and play sports.  Over the summer she played baseball and took a trip to Chicago.

During this past week there were a number of things going on in Lorenzo I.S.D.  First of all, third grade took a field trip to the corn maze located in Lubbock.  The children enjoyed it greatly.  They ate under the big top, and were able to visit with all the animals including the cows, pigs, gouts, and turkeys. They can’t wait to see how things go next year.

There was also an open house on Tuesday, October 7 at Lorenzo High School, and it was a smash hit!  The event was very well attended according to the teachers that were interviewed.  Mr. Paniagua said that he had at least thirty seven parents on his sign-in sheet.  Teachers stated that parent response was great.  Coach Stark said that all of the parents she visited with were very receptive to her comments, and were very supportive with what she had to say.  Mrs. Hash enjoyed bragging on her students to their parents.  The main goal of the event was to get parents involved, and to make grades available for parents to view.  Mr. Pickering commented that he was very pleased with the event and hopes that next year will be just as successful.
