"Ace of Cakes" Decorating Contest Results

The Family and Consumer Sciences Food Science and Technology classes at Lorenzo High School held an “Ace of Cakes” decorating contest.  Dr. Godfrey, the Food Science teacher, said the students worked diligently for one week planning, preparing, and decorating their cakes for the competition.  Cake entries consisted of a Gumball Machine, Grand Piano, Hamburger, Strawberry Cake, Pink & Black, Flip Flop Shoe, Jewelry Box and a Lorenzo Hornets Basketball Gym with spectators, bleachers and a court.   There was a tie for the “Ace of Cakes” award between the “Grand Piano” cake created by Trevor Kitten and Jeremy Nuttall and the “Lorenzo Hornets Basketball Gym” cake designed by Aisha Martina and Catarina Garcia.   The “Most Creative” award went to the “Hamburger” cake, designed by Chrisanta Herrera.   The “Flip Flop” cake, created by Mercedes Martinez and Janeillle Caballero won the “Most Original” award. The “Gumball Machine” designed by Samantha and Stephanie Quintana won the “Bright Ideas” award. Judges were Lucy Garcia, Josie Guzman, Ellen Dorman and Pat Castro.
