September 27, 2009

Great news has arrived in the classrooms of Lorenzo ISD!! Lorenzo and Floydada will
receive over a half million dollars in a collaborative grant. This grant will bring more
technology to the classrooms and provide intensive professional development for our
teachers.

On Friday, September 11, Lorenzo learned they were selected as participants in the
Target Tech for Texas(T3) Collaborative Grant. The grant funds were made possible by
the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and are aimed toward districts who wish
to increase their technology use in the classrooms and provide the training that
accompanies it. Lorenzo ISD who is also beginning their 1:1 Laptop Initiative this year
will be purchasing technologies to help support those goals.  The following is a list of some the purchases that will be made in each district:

• Teacher laptops for all elementary teachers
• Replace all computer labs in the district
• Promethean Activboards in every classroom
• A Mobile Interactive Television (ITV) cart
• Science Probes for secondary campus
• Adobe Creative Suite Software

The grant period will begin October 1, 2009 and last through September 30, 2011. Over
that time, the Lorenzo teachers will receive numerous hours of professional
development to help effectively implement these technologies in the curriculum.
