New Course Offering Paving the Way at Lorenzo High School

Nine new courses are being offered at Lorenzo Jr/Sr High School this year for grade levels 7-12. These new courses include:
Forensic Science- If you like the TV show, CSI:Crime Scene Investigation series, you will love this class. Offered to Seniors, this class combines knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Law Enforcement to help solve crimes. This class has become one of our instant favorites and Lorenzo ISD is one of the only schools in the region to offer this engaging course.
Law Enforcement- Officer Henry Benitez, a graduate of Lorenzo ISD, has returned to help teach our Law Enforcement class. Fresh out of the Academy and some experience as a Peace Officer, Mr. Benitez plans on showing our students what it takes to maintain law and order.
Theater Arts- Lights, Camera, Action. Our new theater arts class is taught by a dynamic teacher who is also our One Act Play director. Sign up for this class to learn all about the different parts of living life on the stage.
Math Models- A class at one time designated for remedial math students, Math Models is now an upper level math course designed for those who really want to challenge themselves. Are you up to it?
Culinary Arts- Have you ever thought about running your own food service business. This class will show you how to do it. From preparing food to running a restaurant, let our experienced Culinary Arts teacher show you the way.
Welding- $34,750- That is how much the average certified welder made in the U.S. in 2008, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. You can now get your initial certifications right here at Lorenzo High School and they will carry over to programs in other colleges and universities.
Digital Graphics- Have you ever wondered how stars on the front of magazines look better and better every year. Are they trying a new diet or workout program? No...our technology is just getting better and better. Come learn how they do it using such programs as Adobe Photoshop.
Web Design- Do you realize you can have your own website for $10 or less per year? You would probably love to do it, but you probably think it is too hard, but it isn’t. Come join us for this class and learn how.
Learning Essential Academic Processes- One of the hardest parts when entering high school and college is learning to stay organized and developing good study habits. Come let our two expert teachers show you how to get the job done in our L.E.A.P. classes.
